MILK... a must see!

Have you had your dose today? Milk... it does your body good. We'll, I don't really know about that, but I can say this Milk, starring Sean Penn, will do your mind some good.

As always, Sean Penn is incredible. What an actor! There's just not that many people in Hollywood like him right now. But everyone else was good as well, even James Franco which I'm not a huge fan of. Diego Luna of "Y Tu Mama También" was great as the emotionally unstable little Mexican queen who's obsessed with Harvey.

Aside from the actor's performances... I must say, I didn't know much about Harvey Milk and his contribution to the Gay community, yet the film is really inspiring and gave me a good overview about who this man was and his place in American politics.

The film was also well executed on Van Sant's part. I mean, some people might cringe at the first instance Penn and Franco kiss each other... and then there's the sex scenes, which really don't show anything. I bet that if this were a lesbian movie, the sex scenes would be different if you know what I mean... but that's entirely another blog.

But the film is a must see because of Penn. Did I say how much I like him already! He's just a god.

Violence in Gaza

Israelis have recently air bombed the Gaza strip in response to a cease fire and some rockets launched at Israel by the Hamas group that caused minimal damage and 1 casualty.

In response the Israeli forces deployed something like 6,500 soldiers and bombed and air raided the Gaza strip killing 277 and wounding approximately 700 people, including young soldiers who were graduating from military training. From my understanding of the articles I've read in Drudge Report and HuffPost, they attacked the ceremony site. Isn't that like shooting at somone who has no weapons, or from behind when they don't see it coming and cannot defend themselves? How cowardly! Was that really necessary? Was this type of response really necessary?

The EU has condemned both nations, Palestine for the instigation and Israel for the excessive use of reckless force.

The Israeli response makes it look like they are dying to come down on the Palestinians with all they got and are waiting, or actually, craving the smallest excuse to unleash their wrath. These is from people who are supposed to be deeply religious, profoundly spiritual and call themselves "God's chosen people."

Needless to say the muslims wreak havoc in the name of Allah. Need I say more? This sudden unrest is not going to go away quickly... and I believe will set out a chain of events (along with other happenings around the globe) that might truly culminate in what is widely talked about these days as the 2012 prophecy.

Is this fight about territory, or is it about religion? Is it about justice vs. injustice or about our lack of tolerance of each other?

It is time for nations all over the world to get deeply involved in the Palestinian-Israeli issue, and for all leaders of organized religion (which I've always found questionable) to also get involved and make a genuine effort to meet and listen to each other and have a profound dialogue among themselves on how to better this situation, instead of standing in their palaces and waving to the crowds. It is inhumane for Palestinians to continue living the way they live, and Israelis should be able to rest assure that nearest café will not be bombed at any given moment.

Finally we admit it... it's a Recession!

Well... after the Christmas season recorded dismal sales, even though we had killer sales, the kind every woman dreams of, CLEARANCE sales that typically happen in January happening now, we finally have the balls to call this situation a "Recession". What took us sooo long?

In this country we make sure the truth is never too complicated. We are masters at concealing the real truth... masters at blinding ourselves and keeping ourselves entertained until it's too obvious to ignore while in the process, becoming masters at the art of desperately trying to constantly live "like a Rock Star."

The American people are never really told the truth. I remember when I was younger I really thought that all the news we heard in the American channel was pretty much what happened in the entire world and positively believing that if the news made it out the mouth's of those anchor people, it was certain to be the truth about in matter.

weeheeewww... how far from the truth was I!!!!

It's only a partial view... a particular point of view that is truly communicated to the audience.

We now finally admit that we are in a recession and that we are in deep shit. And.... that it's going to take us longer than we thought, to repair the situation and get out of this mess.

Bush and the size 10 shoes

Today it's all over the news that on Bush's last public appearance in Iraq as President of the United States, he was met with a pair of shoes traveling at great speed in the direction of his head by an Iraqui journalist saying something like "this is a goodbye you dog".

My first reaction was appalled. The President of any nation, no matter what his political views are, should be respected in public no matter what. But then I thought to myself... if this was Saddam Hussein standing there, wouldn't I wanna throw a shoe at him? Let's get more personal... what if it was Fidel Castro? I'm Cuban-Italian and my family left Cuba a long time ago when the revolution broke out. Now after everything he's done to the Cuban people, wouldn't I wanna throw a shoe at him? God, probably worse...  I would wanna practice a circus act that required daggers and use him as my blindfolded model standing in front of the bull's eye. Then, I think again and I say, NO, because "what is this world coming to" if we don't maintain a certain kind of appropriate behavior, as difficult as it might be considering our feelings toward the person in question, towards the leaders of our nations.

I gotta say though it was pretty fucking funny. I think dogging those shoes was the only move Bush has made that I've been impressed by.

I wonder what they're going to do with the guy? Click here to watch.

How crucial is it to get that 50" Plasma?

Is it worth a human life? I wonder if those people who showed up at Wall Mart at 5am on Black Friday are enjoying their TV right now. I wonder if they can sleep at night. Well, I'm sure they can because they're all probably saying to themselves, as they numb their brains with senseless programing, like Britney Spear's latest documentary, "I didn't do it! It wasn't me who stepped over him, I walked around him."

How important I say, is getting that 50% off? Is it worth killing someone over it? Is it that important that you would see a guy lying on the floor and still walk right over him in order to get to the electronics isle before anyone else? Is it that important that you see this guy on the floor and don't even take 12 seconds to extend your hand and offer to help him up?

I saw the most terrifying thing on TV today. As the body of this 34 year old black man, who had been working at this Wall Mart for just a week, was being wheeled out, DEAD, into the ambulance, people were passing right by on their way to their cars with their huge TV sets (or whatever it is they had purchased) in their shopping carts not even looking, not even taking the time to acknowledge that a human life had been lost and it was literally passing right by them.

The whole thing is DISGUSTING to me. It makes me question my faith in mankind.

Election Day!

It is election day... I must admit I've been anxious since the weekend. Almost loosing sleep. Thinking about today's outcome and waiting for this day as if I were waiting for some historical rock concert. Madonna's farewell tour or something... the Rolling Stones.

I went to vote with my two son's, Luc and Maxie (my teacup Yorkie). It is the first time I vote. I've never been much interested in politics until now. My support for Hilary, her tenacity, strength, smarts, was inspiring. Not to mention the possibility of a female President for the 1st time, got me going. Got me hooked.

In the process I realized how important this year's election was. But most of all how important election is in general and always, and how I've passed on a few opportunities in the past.
But going back to this year's election... I realized the next time we elect a President will be 2012. That alone told me that whoever we elect this year will be key in taking us through this last chapter and into a New World, or as Ekard Tolle says, A New Earth.

Yes, I am a believer that something BIG will happen in 2012... don't know yet what exactly, if it will be cataclysmic, the end of the world, or the end of the our Galaxy. But I feel it will certainly be the end of something and the beginning of another; a new consciousness,  a new way of living on a physical, socially, mentally, and spiritual level.

Then Hilary lost and well... I still think she's the one that should have been in the ticket. But that is past and now, it was time to open myself up to something else. So I backed Obama.

Today I'm anxious and praying that he wins!

My first election experience was in a way, uneventful, mostly because I felt everyone around me had voted in the past, so this was nothing new for them. For me it was exciting. I was getting my voice across and my vote would be punched by a machine from the 1930's and my choice irrevocable.

Even my dog was excited. I had to leave him outside with my husband, even though he is a pocket dog. He was whining. A lady comes up to me and says "I think it's great that you bring your son to vote with you so you can start inculcating what being a good citizen is". I thought that was sweet. I was proud.

Now, I await at home drinking a Mimosa, my second one actually, expecting to celebrate an Obama victory.  A historical day. Our first black President. A woman will follow, I tell myself, just as long as it's not Palin.

I HOPE YOU HAVE VOTED!!!  And not voted out of fear or based on what the Bible might or might not say. I hope you have voted from the heart, and from a real profound wisdom.... It is when we tap into that wisdom (not on dogmatic teachings), when we become quite and listen, when we trust our instincts, that the right answers become crystal clear. When we put the ego aside and the years of mental conditioning, when we forget for a moment what "we've been told" to do, to think and say... when that happens, then we usually know what to do.

If McCain could have...

grabed a baseball bat he would have beat him up...
If he could have...
ripped his clothes and turn green he would have turned into the HULK.
If he could have....
exploded, he would have
If he could have..
ground Obama every time he forced a smile, he would have turned him into dust particles
If he could have...
rolled his eyes a few more times he would have turned into Linda Blair in the Exorcist
If he could have....
spit fire, he would have burnt Obama's little "fro" to a crisp
If he could have...
told Bush, "motherfucker you ruined it for me", he would have
If he could have...
punch Obama in his face he would have felt better
If he could have...
successfully made Obama admit he hangs out with Bill Ayers and pops a few beers with him, he would have slept better
If he could have...
gotten under Obama's skin as his advisors probably directed him, he would have been less angry
If he could have...
Strangled "Joe the Plumber" he would have
If he COULD...
win the White House, we would have no future in America

OBAMA WINS DEBATE... Yeayy!

Not his most passionate debate but he still won it... and I don't think his somewhat uneventful performance will change the people that already believe in him, or enough to turn off the undecided folks from not voting for him.

WONDER WOMAN SPEAKS!!!!

Love Linda Carter...forget Madonna, I wanna look like Carter when I'm old.
She's still my hero... now more than ever that she slams Palin for being the ANTI-WONDER WOMAN.

Soldiers "KIA" killed in action

Friendly fire in Iraq...yeah right!
2 US soldiers die under fire from a US tank who mistook them for the enemy. They told their mothers that their son's were killed by the enemy and died "honorably" defending their country.

So these soldiers have to have the courage to defend their country, but their country doesn't have the courage to tell their families the truth.

21 Days to Election

So now I'm getting really scared. I'm of the opinion, like Tina Fay, that if the McCain/Palin ticket wins, I'll leave earth! It seems McCain has narrowed down the gap a little although Obama is still ahead.

This is what I'm afraid of, the Bradley effect. That all those who said would vote for Obama, come election day, will not because they would never vote for a black man, but never had the "cojones" to say so. I'm worried about all those Cubans in Miami (and I am Cuban by the way!) that will not vote Democrat because of Bay of Pigs fiasco and their hate for Kennedy. This was 40 or some years ago guys....   I'm afraid of the Jews, some of whom I've heard confess on the news, that they feel Obama and them are just "not the same color" and don't care much about anything or anyone else than Israel and keeping those damn Palestinians, that don't belong in a land that was theirs in the first place, out.

I am concerned...about those conservative Americans that go on CNN at the GOP rallies and say that they "turn off the liberal media" and stay conservative and "God Bless America". So they shut out any information that does not agree with them and they turn off their TV's so they can stay in denial and open themselves to some more politcs of fear and brainwashing. They are arrogant enough to think that in this day and age they can afford isolation and separation from the entire world, because the world revolves around the United States of America right....? And then they call the media "elitist."

I am concerned that pretty soon we'll go back on the separation between church and state and that we will be run and forced to live by the philosophy of the Christian Right.

Maybe things need to get worse before they get better, but here is the question... what does worse mean? Does it mean that there will be natural catastrophes, does it mean that we will not agree on anything and this will become a battle of ideas and religions? I mean, pretty soon we will have Christian Jihadists in America. I mean... aren't these the folks that say that the war in Iraq is "God sent". Aren't these the people that try to infiltrate themselves into positions of power so they can convert all of us "infidels"?  Who are we really against here? Who are the real crazies? We say the Arabs are nuts, but what do we do here at home? Some people here shouted when referring to Obama "kill him". I thought we didn't do that kind of thing in America anymore. I thought we were past that and that this country was the "shining beacon" of freedom, and I include racial freedom, and expression.

Madonna tell's Palin she's not invited to THE PARTY (her concerts!)

Go Madge...she's not invited to my party either!

Altough you also wonder if Madonna really means it or if she's just capitalizing on the controversy to grab some attention as usual?

HOTEL LA CONCHA PR

For those of you who are interested in travel...you should visit the La Concha in PR.
It's very Miami style, which most of us have seen repeatedly and seems to be the standard in hotels these days. Nontheless it has a very pelasant atmosphere and 2 pools, one of them an infinity pool facing the beachfront which happens to be very beautiful in that part of Condado.

There is a part of the hotel which is built in the shape of an actual clam and used to be a nightclub before they remodeled the hotel. Now it's a beautiful restaurant with an ocean theme.

Certainly a "must visit" at some point!

One of the many reasons why Palin should not be in the White House, from a woman's POV

I agree with Lindsay in the sense that I support her as a woman and mother as I would any other woman that has the ambition to take on both career and family and not allow herself to be forced into choosing one over the other.

However, electing this particular woman to office, I think, would be the downfall of this country. As Lindsay mentioned in her article, it's taken us a LOOONG time to get to a point where we are able to decide what to do with our bodies in many issues from contraceptives, family planning and choice. This woman would not only attempt to reverse, but also pollute all that hard work that women in America have done so far and fought for so very hard. SHE SIMPLY MUST NOT BE ELECTED because there is a good chance she might end up President. SAVE US LORD!!! (not her Lord)

And trying to reform gays is absolutely ridiculous!!! Being gay is not a disease that you cure... it's a way of life, and once again, a CHOICE that should be respected.

I feel that if elected Palin will spend all her energy drilling, trying to impose her religious views on the country and trying to reform all of us who do not agree with her personal views.

GO BACK TO ALASKA!!!

Lindsay Lohan actually managed  to write an insightful article opposing Palin.  READ...

Body Language in Politics

Take it from someone who's been a dancer and actor all her life, body language never lies.
Did anyone see Palin's interview with Charles Gibbons? She looked like and old lady hunched over as she desperately tried to make her point, as opposed to a straighter posture that would have communicated more assertiveness, self assurance, confidence and certainly a more presidential attitude.  She looked nervous, tense, and...did I say NERVOUS? Her eyes were bugging OUT.  And what's up with never really answering the questions asked? It seems like the Republicans are masters at this.

When asked about abortion and if she was opposed to it in cases of incest and rape, she just didn't have the balls to say NO. Why, because she knows it's ludicrous, and that she is being severely judged on this issue, and deep down she knows that only a monster would say NO to abortion in the event someone gets raped by some thug that might have God knows what kind of disease.  She didn't have the guts to say, "NO because I believe I should impose my religious beliefs on the entire country>"

Sure, like I'm gonna be looking forward to bringing into the world my perpetrator's child?

"CHE"

So this film has now been acquired to in the US to making it qualified to enter the Academy Awards.

"CHE"  is movie about the famous Che Guevara, played by Puertorican actor Benicio del Toro, who was a central figure in the Cuban Revolution.

A must see...if anything because I'm Cuban, and although I'm not a supporter of Castro, it sound like a good film. I mean..it's a Soderbergh film after all... plus my friend Luis Gonzaga is in it!

Ugly Betty's Geoffrey Soffer

So for those who want to get some feedback from someone who actually knows what he is talking about, and from whom you can get input that is CURRENT and you can put to use....take a class with Geoffrey Soffer, CD for "Ugly Betty."

He is sarcastic but not too much and is quite humorous. He was an actor himself, and although he did  not want to continue acting because it was "too hard" he worked at  the Roundabout Theater for a some 2 years I think.

I don't know how well I did but I learned something new:

How do you tell the difference between Sitcome and Drama?

  • Drama is single spaced (talking about the script)
  • Sitcom is double spaced.
Who new...????

Seth Grahame-Smith and his article on McCain calling Cyndy a C**t

You need to check out his article "The Man Who Called His Wife a "C--t" Cries "Sexism!"

It is fantastic! and mostly it talks about all the hypocrisy that goes on in the Republican campaign, especially from McCain himself (not to mention Palin). He was very bold in this article and was not afraid to "call it like it is"!

PLEASE READ IT!!!!!!

McCain's classy attitude in public

He called his wife a CUNT (OMG!!!) in front of reporters back in 92 when she said he was growing "a little thin up there" I assume she was talking about his hair, although I begin to think it's his grey matter and his dignity that's thinning out!

(Not even I use that word. Well, except when I'm talking about Palin of course, hahaha)

He is notorious for his bad temper and for offending his colleagues and opponents by calling them foul names.

If the Republicans are for values, especially FAMILY VALUES... what kind of values does a man that calls his wife the "C" word in front of reporters have? How can they be so blind to this?

Is he going to let his temper get the best of him when he meets volatile world leaders, if he ever does, who are looking for a fight in the first place?

He can't be trusted as a good, sane, educated and diplomatic leader of this country. With such a short fuse he will get us into MAJOR trouble in faster than Bush got us into war!!!

What do I think of Governor Palin

....PIG IN LIPSTICK!

SATAN in a skirt!

My first Blog!

Wooow, my first Blog page! This is great!!!
